The erhu (Chinese: 二胡; pinyin: èrhú) is a distinguished two-stringed bowed instrument belonging to the spike fiddle family. Commonly recognized in the West as the Chinese violin or the Chinese two-stringed fiddle, it also carries the name Southern Fiddle.
